Young tall and handsome with a long red mane of hair, Scottish American Matt Macalister is a man of adventure who, with his Christian faith, goes west to start a new life in Abilene Kansas to take over his late uncle’s ranch after he is gunned down in the streets of Abilene. He leaves his home in Hartford, Connecticut with his horses Dixie and Bad Bob along with a three legged cat, Porter, and his dog, Lucy.

It’s spring of 1877 when he starts his long journey. On the way to Kansas, in Marion Ohio he stops two little orphaned girls from being mistreated by an angry old man. Little did he know those two sweet little girls would change his life. Then he would find his true love, a beautiful woman by the name of Abbey Morgan. This strong former slave woman shows him just how much he needs a woman in his life. With a little Irishman named Billy O’Shea that they pick up on the way, They find their way to their new home in Abilene Kansas. It’s a hard country with cowboys and outlaws, but with good men like Sheriff Elliott and Matt Macalister, they can make this wild land home.
